You have just been given the assignment to develop a new variable air volume air conditioning controller.
The specifications for the device and its environment are:
The device is to control the amount of air entering a room by controlling the dampers of the air input duct to the room.
The temperature of the room should be controlled within +- 2 degrees of the setpoint.
The minimum air flow into the room shall be no less than 10 cubic feet per minute (CFM).
The maximum air flow into the room shall be no more than 100 cubic feet per minute (CFM).
The controllable dampers have a linear air flow with opening. i.e. When the dampers are completely closed the air flow
is zero CFM, when the dampers are fully open the air flow is 120 CFM.
The dampers are controllable in increments of 1%.
The temperature of the incoming air from the duct is a constant 50 degF.
The room raises/lowers by .25 degF for every 500 cubic feet of air entering the room.
The controller should limit the temperature change in the room to 1 degF every 10 minutes.
Your assignment is to design the controller to adjust the air flow so that it tries to achieve the desired temperature
within 10 minutes.
Use the up/down arrows on the keyboard to raise/lower the room temperature by .25 degF for each keypress,
and display the position of the dampers to show that you are achieving control.
